Social Media Monitoring Tools That Are Free
The Internet is one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind. It has changed the way that we perform many daily activities, as well as given us instant access to just about every piece of information you can think of. The invention of social media has continued the enormous influence that the Internet has over our lives. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and many other social media sites (as an example, check out this post from Rose Training in Australia) and applications are used by millions of people every day to promote products, share information, and post photos. The popularity and power of social media are undeniable in the world we live in today.
What are social media monitoring tools and how important are they?
Social media has become an integral part of the way companies conduct their business. Because of this, it has become increasingly important for companies to be able to constantly monitor what is being said about them on all of the various forms of social media, as well as to find out who is saying it. In the online world, the reputations of large companies and individuals operating a small business can be quickly damaged by erroneous information being distributed. Social media tools enable users to get updates on anything being said about them on social media, allowing them to improve their reputation by correcting any misinformation.
Here are five social media monitoring tools that are completely free:
1. Topsy
The primary focus of Topsy is on blogs and multimedia. There is no need for any person to register to use Topsy. However, users can create an optional alert that can be sent to your email. This alert will be connected to the user’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
2. Icerocket
Icerocket’s social media monitoring tool has been designed specifically to monitor blogs of all kinds. However, there is also an option that is available for users to also check activity on Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook. Users do not need to create an account to access this tool. It is easy to use and it does not take long to get the hang of it.
3. Google Alerts
Google Alerts is by far the most popular of all the social media monitoring tools that are currently available. This allows a person or business to find out when they have been mentioned on any website at any time. It is important to know that Google Alerts will not notice every single mention of a particular thing. This is because it will not monitor the vast majority of blogs or social media sites. However, it is still an extremely useful tool to check your social media presence. You can also do some research about what people are saying about other people or products. It is completely automated, so any mentions that Google Alert detects will be sent to you by email.
4. Social Mention
Social Mention monitors many different platforms of social media, collecting data that is aggregated. There are several standard analytics that is used in an attempt to find out if the mentions are negative or positive. No registration is required.
5. TweetDeck and Hootsuite
Both TweetDeck and Hootsuite help you to manage and consolidate all of the various accounts you have on social media sites. You can perform real-time scans of Twitter. This is helpful to find people who are talking about you without tagging you or using your particular hashtag.
