Through Social Media, your hotel customers today have easy access to Social Media tools and information that amplify their voice.
The question often is do Hotels take the time to listen to the ongoing conversations?
It is important to understand that just because you choose to ignore the conversations doesn’t mean it’s not there. Customers today will not ask for permission to talk about your Hotel.
I know it can be scary and all of us have days where we feel we are walking in unfamiliar terrain. And on the surface, it looks and feels like information overload. Oh, and did I mention this information is thrown on us fast. I mean really… fast!
How does your Hotel become an even faster listener that is capable of filtering the information that matters?
Optimize Your Hotels Listening Funnel
The key to making the most of Social Media is listening to what your customer says about your Hotel, your competitors, and the market in general. Once you have the data you can undertake analysis, and finally, reach Social Media strategic decisions and action; using all these insights to know your customers better and improve your Social Media marketing strategy.
Over the years, I tried and tested an abundance of tools. Some are great others not so great. And when I research tools I look for tools that best serve my overall mission and goals.
Let’s look at some of the best tools for Social Media Listening:
1) CoSchedule
I was looking for an ‘all-in-one’ dashboard tool that easily allowed me to automate my daily Social Media Tasks and use my time on more important things. Even as a Social Media Consultant, I don’t have time to spend all day on Social Media.
CoSchedule integrates with my blog, and with their app, I can also access it from my Smartphone.
By linking all your Hotels Social Network platforms and managing them from CoSchedule, you’re able to plan, promote, and execute your entire strategy from a single tool.
2) Cyfe
I don’t know about you, but I am a visual person. And Cyfe provides me with all the Dashboards I need;
- Startup dashboard
- Social Media Dashboard
- Marketing Dashboard
- Client Dashboard
- Web Analytics Dashboard
- Finance Dashboard
- Sales Dashboard
- Project Management Dashboard
- IT Dashboard
I can monitor everything I need from Cyfe, and it also provides options to generate real-time reports.
3) Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a must-have tool to assist your Hotel in improving the customer experience.
Analyze data from all your Hotels reference points in one place, for a deeper understanding of the customer experience.
4) Google Alerts
Google Alerts is a great tool that will notify you of relevant keywords of your choice.
5) Bing Webmaster Tools
I am a big fan of Bing Webmaster Tools. Great tool for customer and event tracking. It also provides great performance reports for measuring campaign effectiveness.
Bing Webmaster tools also provide additional information about traffic coming to your hotel’s website.
One of my absolute favorite functions with Bing is the ability to curate content that is relevant to my market segments.
6) Scoop.it
Scoop.it has made content curation simple. Curation enables you to pull in the best of the available content. This builds trust and enhances your value to your hotel’s target audience.
7) Pocket
Pocket is also a Content Curator. But I prefer to refer to this tool as an Idea or Reference curator. I use this tool for saving information that inspires me, and that I believe will generate new ideas that add more value to Hotels.
8) Jrrny.com
Jrrny.com launched in early 2016 as a platform for travelers, bloggers, and hotels to share content on destinations from one place.
The platform not only has attracted over 3500 unique posts — but they’re also generating traffic. As of June 2016, it has 110,000 unique visitors per month.
This allows travelers to use this channel to tell an authentic story.
Start to curate the stories that will make a real difference for your Hotel.
9) Tweetdeck
TweetDeck covers the basic needs of any Twitter user, so is a good option for any Hotel. It’s a great tool for scheduling tweets and monitoring your interactions and messages, as well as tracking #hashtags and managing multiple accounts.
10) Followerwonk
Followerwonk is a great Social Media analytics tool that I use often in my research. It allows me to dig deeper into Twitter analytics: followers, and their locations when they tweet. And it is a great way to identify and connect with influencers in your Hotel community.
11) Sprout Social
Sprout Social has become for many Hotels the go-to Social Media Management tool.
Customer experience is key. While this can be said of any business, it’s especially true within the Travel and Hospitality industry. Travelers turn to Social Media throughout every step of their journey, from start to finish. For hospitality brands – Hotels especially – your work starts before a Hotel is booked.
12) Plann
Stay consistently online with Plann, an all-in-one Instagram and social media content planner, scheduler + strategist with post ideas, free templates – plus a free link-in-bio tool.
13) BuzzSumo
BuzzSumo is a tool that will add great value to Hotels today. With this tool, Hotels will develop a deeper understanding of their Social footprints. And quickly identify what content is working well in the Hospitality industry and who the major influencers are.
14) Cloudbeds
It takes a nimble, future-minded, and forward-thinking leadership to take advantage of collected data from the different Content Portals and applied analytics. The modern Hotel leaders of today are implementing new and innovative ways to benefit from data analytics.
Cloudbeds provides a Superior Smart Analytics tool designed for Hotels.
15) Facebook Business Manager
I have used Facebook Business Manager since Facebook first released this tool. It started very buggy, and many ended up leaving this tool. I took out most of my Facebook Pages but kept one page there to see what plans Facebook had for this tool.
Today I manage both personal and client Facebook Pages through Facebook Business Manager. This tool gives me a truly unique insight that helps me make high-value decisions and implement an effective call to action.
And Facebook sends me reports and tips to help me improve.
These are some of the tools I use both for myself and to assist clients in overcoming fears and worries they might have with Social Media.
All tools I use are aligned with the overall Social Media Strategy I set out. If you want to learn more contact me.
